Role: Game designer & Level designer

Developed during a UKIE game jam with a theme of diversity and inclusivity, this 2D platformer encourages collaborative gameplay. Players switch between three characters, each with unique abilities, to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles. My role in this project was to design levels and gameplay mechanics that emphasized teamwork and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Game Design Development:  Worked to enhance the overarching theme through cohesive player character mechanics and puzzles.

  • Puzzle Design Leadership: Personally designed all puzzles, ensuring they required collaborative strategies and highlighted each character's unique abilities.

  • Level Design and Gameplay Mechanics: Emphasized teamwork and strategic thinking in level challenges and gameplay dynamics.

My thought process:

  • Solving a puzzle requires at least two characters.

  • The game should emphasize teamwork.

  • Levels are designed to be thoughtfully challenging rather than mechanically hard.
